Full Version: Kim, Iole and Avila are Top Rank paid writers

Just read their columns on the Rios vs Abril fight.
I used to follow Kim but he's become a TR puppet for the past 2 years or so. He is the worst and the most shameless one. Then you have Iole who is just happy to get a quote from Arum and twists his story as if it's Arum's story. Avila is another moron who is in Arum's pockets. These guys are not ignorant. They understand boxing and they follow it. They are corrupt and shameless though and much worse than the judges who gave the fight to Rios. I don't think Rafael is TR paid employee although he had his biases but these three oh my!

And Pacman is offering winner take all to Floyd? Yeah right, for all we know Floyd will beat Pacquiao to death only to call an ambulance for the Pacman and escort him on a stretcher as controversial split decision winner.

i don't really care about writers, it's more the bullshit with judges. and weres the offering thing? and finally mayweathers never knocking pacman out no matter how much he wants to.

I have to read some of their recent columns. As I've picked up over the past several months, Dan seems to be getting frustrated with Top Rank's part in the mega fight not happening.

I remember him expressing it a couple of times on FNF, and I was sure that he was going to lose his TR connections, but nothing has seemed to happen. Could you drop a few links on here, so I can check it out?

Same here, I also don't pay much attention to boxing writers (I use that term loosely).

I'm very selective as to which articles I'll read the whole way through, but yeah the guys that you've mentioned have been drinking the Holy Rank Kool Aid (who's Avila?).

I also agree that Rafael's redeemed himself a bit recently and Iole seems to have toned down the Floyd bashing, but like the rest of the crew, they're still riding for the Holy Rank.

I am not sure if you're allowed to post links here to other websites

but here is Iole's latest gem: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/boxing--brand...EWxlnQKVy6UxLYF

He says that Bob Arum scored the fight 115 to 113 for Rios hence it's ok or something along the lines. The guy is just happy to get a quote or two from Arum and then he'll twist his story around. He's been proven to be unethical again and again.

Here is Avila's ringside report: http://www.thesweetscience.com/news/articl...oo-much-vs-rios

This is pretty much the worst summary of a fight I have ever read.

And Kim, that guy has become the biggest clown, I mean not even a retard like Kelly Dwyer (NBA blogger) could match Kim's brains. At least Kelly is a retard. Kim knows boxing and knows how to write but being corrupt and proud of it is what puts him beneath all of them. I used to follow him and he does have some good insights but I don't care any longer cause I can't take his sell-out ass so I haven't read anything from him since a month ago.

Apparently he said on twitter that he had no problem with the decision. Of course he doesn't, TR paid his trip to Puerto Rico for the Salido vs Juanma fight and he's in awe of the business side of it, having guys like Cameron Dunking dropping knowledge on him and dissing fighters as if they are just the puppets (which the majority of them are). Dissing Gamboa, JMM and Martinez and almost every fighter that is not a part of the TR stable.

I haven't read Michael Marley or Rick Reeno but I hear that they are in Arum's pockets as well.

The sport has become a joke, too bad I get no access to the amateur tournaments anymore. Everybody fights everybody and yeah there are bad decisions but never like in the pros.

I used to read Iole's articles by accident when I frequently read yahoo articles. Half of the time, I just wanted to see pictures that were taken during the fight. I believe all of these guys are doing what they have to do, in order to keep their columns in the mainstream.

I found a couple of quotes and statements interesting when I read it...

QUOTE
"We'll sit down and talk with Marquez and see what he wants to do," said promoter Bob Arum, who had Rios winning 115-113.

laugh.gif

Just further evidence that Bob is riding the senile train.

Then Rios goes to drop a gem...

QUOTE
"It wasn't my best performance, yeah, because I did try to make 135," Rios said, defiantly. "I did try to kill myself to make 135 … because I wanted my title back. It's not like I didn't try. I did [expletive] try. There are all these critics over here talking [expletive] about me and saying [expletive] about me, but half of these [expletive] are fat and heavy and they don't even do it for their health.

Really man? He couldn't have picked a more picture perfect time to clown someone else's weight, than at that moment.

shots fired at dan?

Iole is a w****.

I just read Iole's dumbass article, purporting that it was an "error in judgement" and that the fix wasn't in. Wow. What the fuck is that braindead fat fuck smoking these days ?

for the most part....all writers are biased one way or the other. it's no secret who the top rank shills are and which sites are pro-top rank. they are also the same sites that happen to bash floyd mayweather or any al haymon fighter on a regular basis. it's expected from some of these hacks that call themselves journalists or writers. most of them are not even college educated. let a guy like tom hauser, who i USED to love to read, write an article...and watch them all follow suit in their own work. he was one of the guys who has been a critic of haymon from day one. any critical look at one of his articles on the matter is just an illustration of how this whole thing works. it was apparent to me from day one that he was championing arum's cause. i don't know it to be true...but a friend of mine recently told me that hauser is actually on top ranks pay roll which makes it all even more disturbing to me. a hack like dan rafael has never had my respect...and his writings have always been suspect to me. the guy knows very little about the sport and most of what he writes seems to be inspired by who fed him his last meal. he showed his true colors in an article where he attacked the father of tito trinidad for golden boy promotions. papa trinidad had made it a point to let the public know how dlh worked. dlh had constantly been using tito's name to generate interest but had absolutely no interest in facing him. dan rafael turns around and writes an article attacking papa trinidad and saying he was broke and a bunch of other stuff that had absolutely nothing to do with the situation. pen for hire.

the rest of the hacks aren't worthy of having their names mentioned in my post...but i can tell u that they are nothing more than glorified fans who write to get free comps to fights they could not afford to attend otherwise. it's a rare occasion when a writer can do a piece that isn't biased one way or the other. i take it all with a grain of salt. i love the sport and have for all of my life. i don't need to hear some jackasses like merchant or lampley explain to me what i am seeing with my own eyes nor do i need to read it on some site. i do love discussing it with other fans. boxing is beautiful without the commentary...written or otherwise. talk is cheap. they say the pen is mightier than the sword...but most of these internet hacks are writing checks their asses can't cash.

I just read Iole's today article which proves how corrupt this guy is. It's a human error according to him and corruption doesn't exist cause "he is in the know". We shouldn't blame Arum and DLH sucks.

He is just doing damage control for Arum now and making himself look even more pathetic. It's bad enough that he doesn't know squat about either boxing or mma, doesn't put the time to do some investigative journalism cause he is too lazy.

No wonder him and Steve Kim worked together, they are cut of the same type of cloth, the corrupt one. I am surprised Dougie as retarded as he is sometimes with his bias is not corrupt even though he writes for GBP. He is still unbiases about the decisions, well so far at least and to my knowledge. Hopefully, I don't jinx him now.

Investigative journalism usually starts shit and ejects guys off of the payroll, per se. For guys like Arum who immediately turns to defamation lawsuits, will make people come to their senses and ask themselves, "Who actually wants that type of headache?"

True, but he writes for sports.yahoo and if they are confident about his work they will back him up and maybe Arum will lose a defamation lawsuit.
Hauser does investigative journalism but I also think he is corrupt, so he does it only when it fits his agenda and he is the best one out there, but it's crazy that in all these years he hasn't done much digging on Arum and King, it makes me suspicious of his ethics.

Now another hack by the name of Eric Raskin is doing damage control for Bob Arum coming up with ideas why Rios could've won. He just watched the fight after hearing the criticism and scored it for Abril 115-113 but can see how the fight can be 117 -111 for Rios. Bob Arum really plays these dummies like no other. So tehse dummies are supposed to convince the fans that they/we are wrong

when a promoter gives a site access to interviews with his fighters and himself...that site tends to speak favorably about him/them. if an advisor chooses not to interview with any site...some sites feel slighted and feel the need to bash him for the opposing promoters.
sduck
I usually don't read or pay attention to what writers have to say. I only like legit first-hand interviews from the fighters, and that's it.
