Kenny Bayless is said to be the chosen ref for the May and Cotto fight. Great choice, he has reffed for both May and Cotto so he is familiar with both boxers fighting style. I am curious to see how much punishment he will allow Cotto to take (if he does) since he was the ref for the Plaster Gloves and Cotto. I guess in two weeks we shall find out.

Smoger or Mercante would have been a better choice IMO.

Ditto. Don't know why Weeks hasn't been getting the huge fights lately. Bayless is very clear in his instructions. I love his "that's a HARD warning." Leaves little doubt about how many times or how serious the warning is. Smoger wouldn't be bad either. He let's guys fight, but he mostly does east coast fights.

Bayless is the best that I've seen in a while. If you think that both guys will keep it clean on May 5th...fuckin' right., and Im sure nobody's ass will hit the canvas either. Imagine a dude giving you warnings like this all night...

As evidenced by the misinformation. I didn't know that Bayless being a "lead candidate" for the fight, meant that he was going to officially be the ref. Hell, I was the leading candidate for Player of the Year in '05 and '06, but some dude 1-upped me...shit happens though.

Bayless would be an excellent ref for the fight, only because, to me, he's so dramatic! Lol! But Tony Weeks is a little more well rounded. You have to take into consideration that even though Cotto's English has improved over the years, you have to be somewhat fair by throwing in a ref that speaks English as well as Tony Weeks.
