RJJ pretty much found a newly believable reason for his 2004 KO loss to Tarver. True or not, with all of the shit showing its ugly face in boxing...can you blame him for reaching? Yay? Nay?

Fascinating, fascinating issue here.

RJJ may well have a point here. Steroid testing is still so far in its infancy for our beloved sport that anyone from past eras could have been juicing and gotten away with it.

Then again, I honestly believe that RJJ made the biggest mistake of his career by not staying at Cruiserweight/Heavyweight. That 25 pound weight cut to get back down to 175 lbs. completely killed his legs. At that point in his career, he was too old to attempt something so ambitious. Dude was basically cutting muscle mass to get to 175 and didn't have much left, which is why all it took was a few good shots to call it nightey night.

Lastly, pot calling the kettle black ? I mean, wasn't RJJ also using ?

I'm sure the PEDs will be taken more seriously now, now we got people like Tarver juicing.

Jones should have retired as he planned to after winning the HW title. The weight cut definitely ruined him completely.

As far as his positive test, it was for Androstenedione, which was an over the counter supplement that was only banned by the IBF at the time. The supplement was tested and was proven to be ineffective in building strength or muscle mass. His opponent in that fight tested positive for the same supplement.

Everyone is looking for an edge in the sport. Wouldn't be surprised if he was juicing back then.

for fucks sake, this shit is going to keep coming up isnt it...

O boy. Here we go. I love Roy n Ive never been a Tarver fan...as a boxer...but my goodness. Take your loss like a G!
E.C.LEGEND
Nobody should have been that confident against Roy, Unless they knew something he didn't.
alaganza
I'm only surprised it took this long for Roy to say this.
If I'm not mistaken wasn't Roy implicated in the Balco scandal?

Love RJJ, but with respect to a legend, he got caught with a hellacious shot and aint been the same since. I guess all them other ass whoppings he took, including this past weekend was a "possible" result of PEDs.

Lol he lost again? Was it bad? I had no power so I didnt watch tv all weekend.

End of tye day, Roy knows that weight loss cost him a virtually unblemished legacy. I actual had Roy winning yhe fight until he got rocked.

RJJ should take this loss like a man, one of my favourite fighters, but, when he was KOed by Tarver personally i think he was past it and ageing dramatically. Since that loss he hasn't beaten anyone (except a finished Trinidad), still to this day i think he should have retired before the second Hopkins fight.

Lol he got the decision but many and that's including me felt he lost. What's even worse is he has a title shot against the WBC cruiserweight champ coming up in the fall.

He's damaging his legacy in my mind, he should've retired years back.
mgrover
Personally his legacy doesn't mean much to me, just how he fought.but someone needs to make him realise its over, theres nothing to be had from fighting on aside from the money, which i expect to be nothing compared to what he used to make. Like someone said, fighters dont die, they just fade away.
Kratza
I'm sure he's said on interview before that boxing is his life, so much so that if he retired he would seriously contemplate suicide
