For all discussion of tonight's fight! This should be good for however long or short it lasts. I have Donaire winning by TKO in 8 but having to get off of the canvas to win! The Pom-Poms at HBO will be favored for him no doubt. However, I don't think this will get to the cards where that will matter.

Am going to sleep now so I'll be awake for it haha

Ahhhh!!! The feeling of a fresh round-by-round thread always does the trick!

As I always say, I'll be a man and stick with my prediction of Donaire by TKO, maybe by the 5th, but no later than the 7th. As much as I don't wanna moonlight over those hard moments that Rigondeaux had in the Marroquin fight, it's just hard to look past it.

Donaire is quicker and more athletic than Marroquin, and he know's how much a loss to Rigondeaux would hurt his career, so his urgency to follow up and finish Rigo has heightened. Marroquin wanted to try and finish Rigo, but he knew that he still had a chance to get countered. He allowed Rigo to survive, recover, and finish the fight.

NOW, that pressure of Donaire losing to an Olympian with a handful of fights, may urge him to jump the gun and get reckless, and we all know how that turns out if the mistake is big enough.

Rigo is just a cool ass dude, and it's hard to know what he's thinking in there. He's very patient in there, but sometimes he waits too long. Has that ever affected him? Nope. It's usually when he's backing up or resetting, that he gets caught with a good shot.

For some reason, I see Nonito reaching in his tool box, and using that flying left hook that he caught Vasquez Jr. with, when he got desperate and realized that he couldn't easily break Vasquez's defense.

We all know the massive nuthuggery that's gonna go on tonight, so I'll make sure Im good and drunk enough to ignore the announcer's table, but sober enough to crack some good jokes, if need be.
Jovi
This may be my first super fight! smile.gif I'm probably not gonna be able to sleep after this one. I noticed how i get emotional after some fights, like after Marquez knocked out Pacquiao i could just feel the world tilt on its axis. There was a different feeling in the air.

Imma stay with Rigondeaux. I think it will be a body shot that finally takes Nonito out after he gets downed once or twice by a good Rigo counter. The second half of the fight when Nonito is known to gas out is when Rigondeaux will impose his will and completely break Nonito. If he survives that long. Body shot KO 8th-9th round.

Keep me posted on the results y'all.... I'm gonna be at work tonight so I have to watch the replay. I'd love to see Donaire fall though....
Cshel86
Yo T, just keep checkin' in, you're due for some big laughs and some round-by-round action! laugh.gif

So Jovi's predicting a body shot win for Rigo?! That's something else that I'll keep my eye on during the fight. I wonder if Professor's gonna be joining us tonight. Hmmm...

Anyhow, guys, if this goes to the cards, don't expect Rigondeaux to win. A robbery is necessary, when it comes to Arum. Let's just think about his pockets and see what's makes more sense...allowing a relatively unknown and dangerous guy with 12 fights, beat your big ticket fighter, or allow your big ticket fighter to "win", kick some more ass, and keep the rematch in the holster for later?

Think about it guys, Arum doesn't have a hand full of big fights left, but I guarantee, he'll play the hell outta the hand that he does have. If this fight has some exciting and shocking rounds, but goes to the cards, then best believe, Arum will be sure of rematch...on HIS terms.

Anybody other than Jack, believes that Donaire will touch the canvas tonight? I dont fully agree, but anything can happen, and that will give me yet another thing to look for in the fight.

BigDDatHomey
I like Donaire by TKO. But honestly, I don't really care, I'm just excited about the boxing schedule for the next couple months. One of the most rewarding things for me after a hard week's work is a good fight coming on Saturday night.

I agree about the Arum situation. HBO now HAS to pom-pom him and his fighters, because they can't afford to lose him.

Wow! Controversy so close fight time causing cancellation? Have to say though, it wouldn't be the first time. What do you think will go wrong, Mgrover?

I don't know, but this is a fight of the best two outta three in a division that are separated from the pack, and these two are both special in there own way I just think something is likely fuck up

Oh, but I'm feeling bold today! smile.gif I feel a Pac/Marquez 4 type of shocker coming...okay, maybe not that dramatic. wink.gif

Donaire is talented, but I see no greatness in him. I think he's been well matched in a small weight class in which he gets to play giant.

Rigondeaux, on the other hand, exudes greatness, but lacks the pro experience to have proven it. But it's there. The mongoose, as I've nicknamed him, has extraordinary balance, supreme intelligence, is extremely fast with both hands and feet, technically brilliant with great placement and accuracy, has some good bite in his punches (especially the left hook/uppercut) and is defensively elusive. He's the complete package.

In this fight, Donaire has aimed to convince himself that Rigo is not in his class...and he'll be anxious to prove that to Rigo, the crowd, and himself in the ring. His aggression will be his downfall because he's sloppy when he's aggressive and leaves himself off-balance and open to counters. The mongoose will be there waiting patiently - intelligently - with quickness and power, and a hybrid left uppercut/hook that downs the giant by round 5. (Oh yes, I'm calling it! Lol)

Donaire will get up...and Rigo, not known as a finisher (and somewhat wary of Donaire's power, will allow him to see the later rounds. But after the knockdown, Nonito's confidence will be shot, allowing Rigo to rack up rounds for a close UD victory.

The end. smile.gif

I am picking Rig late in the fight maybe round 10 or 11. Donaire seems to fade when the late rounds approach. I think Donaire will try to impose his will damn early but Rig will be able to adjust. he has a damn good trainer in Diaz so I think he will be okay. I wonder will the HBO cheerleaders will mention the whole Victor Conte being booted from Donaire's camp. Maybe someone had Cloudy piss!! Just maybe we will get a real fight tonight and not some BS judging. I already know that Ledderman's card will be way the hell off he. He will have it 10-2 for Donaire. This fight should set up the mega fight with Mares vs. the winner. only 6 more hours gentlemen!
mgrover
how does Rigo deal with that left hook?? It'll make him more cautious, he avoids the left hook sure, if he goes to counter hes in line for the right hand.

Exactly how i feel about Donaire and Rigondeaux, spot on. Really Good vs Great.

Wouldn't be surprised at another Filipino Plank. That left hand of Rigondeaux is possessed.

Looks like you made a great choice, being that you really didn't have a choice anyway. :lo: Both fights should be good, so in sense, you didn't have a choice. Glad I didn't have to make any hard decisions this weekend. My hardest decision thus far, has been whether or not I wanted to spend an extra $8 on my 1800 Tequila, since it was on sale this weekend.

Interesting. Your ass better be in here while the fight is, to back up your prediction. laugh.gif

The Mares fight will never happen, but Arum will keep the sheep at the edges of their seats with propaganda and false promises...as he always does with big fights.

BTW, where's Professor??? He usually drops in early the next morning after a fight, but I kinda expected him to be here for this one. *crossing my fingers*

Where is Franchize with his crazy ass???

I almost wanna ask if Robert Guerrero is gonna be attendance tonight, but I'm sure he has all intentions of staying as far away from NY as possible.

Ize here suh lol

And in honor of you, I intend on consuming some alcoholic beverages lol So if you thought I was crazy before....

I just hope to see a definitive win from either fighter and HOPEFULLY some real boxing. I don't need to see another bar brawl that will ensure Bob Arum has yet another rematch to market.

I agree, I just dont wanna see any cut stoppages or freak injuries.

Why in the fuck is the camera so damn close to the announce team? Feels like Im watching The Mighty Boosh on Cartoon Network. I feel more high than drunk because of this

RJJ sounds like he's reading to some kids on Reading Rainbow. no2.gif

These close-ups on the fighters and commentators are blowing my damn buzz right now. Lol

This Radio City set up looks weird. What's with that HUGE gap between the crowd and the ring? And is it me or did the pre-fight stuff happen really quick? It's like the shit just came on and they were in the ring lol
Franchize
Rigo looks dry and tense. Uh oh

Not sure if this one will last long...

Is Donaire really getting touched up in the 1st round???

These camera angles are fuckin me up...sorry guys

Round 1 to Rigo.
Franchize
Rigo won the round and the hand speed battle. Donaire is winning the footwork battle. He's got Rigo circling the wrong way but Rigo is racking up points because Donaire is too busy trying to land the big counter.
