I think the fight can happen next year with Broner and Thurman. Maybe on a major undercard as the co-event. I don't think Golden Boy would be willing to put Omar in a ring with Broner. Omar has star written all over him, so they will build him up step by step. I doubt if Broner stays at 135 much longer.

Im still not sold on Thurman. He can be beat to the punch. And I believe Chaves was on the way to stopping Thurman if he doesnt gas out. Broner is really small, compact, and hard to hit clean. Thurman can punch but he's not going to give Broner angles or doesnt have the hand speed Paulie had. Im just not all that impressed with Thurman.

haha said exactly what i thought but with less words.

I wasn't sure about Thurman until i saw him against Chavez, he proved he has the skills to pay the bills. Chavez was fast and strong with a defense, right when it looked like he was gonna take Thurman out, homeboy went into sage mode. Got used to Chavez's speed and was able to avoid his power and adjust his movements to get into the right spot and land the precise shots, put chavez down with 1 body shot. Broner has a solid defense but Thurman would end up imposing his will on Broner. If Broner shells up, he will either get his guard broken through or Thurman will feint him, keep moving and select his openings. Thurman has the speed to match broner, the power to hurt broner, and the IQ to beat Broner. This would be no Mismatch, the broner i saw against Paulie would've got hurt against the Thurman i saw against chavez. But anything could happen, Thurman has my vote though.

I like Figueroa but he would get picked apart by Broner, he needs to work on his defense.

i might catch heat for saying this...but thurman is the real deal. he has a lot of tools and showed some serious depth in that match up. he was doing stuff that the commentary team missed. i thought the first four rounds were closer than they made them out to be...and he was definitely landing some very good shots. after the four rounds...chaves was breathing hard from missing so much...and thurman was looking like he was just getting started. that right hand of chaves was no joke! thurman would let him throw it....roll with it last second....and counter with the check left hook.it takes some seriously high level skill to do that. the kid has the goods and is quickly becoming one of my favorites. i can't see too many guys that can beat him at 147. with a little more development...hopefully he gets a shot at floyd before he retires.

I think he got Thurman a few times, maybe not visibly hurt but Thurman was gassing but not as bad as Chaves. But they were both definitely gassed

True, the Broner that showed up against Malinaggi would lose to Thurman, but I want to see how he grows into the weight class with a few more fights. Then maybe it would be a different fight

I don't think he has Broner's speed, I just don't see that. If they were to fight this year I'd side with Thurman to beat Broner bt if we're talking this time next year give me MR. Band Camp by decision, his upside is way more then Thurman's

I'd like to see all those matchups, but if he fought Cotto at 154, that would be interesting

Maidana/Broner/Thurman, any combination of those fights would be great, GB need to make it happen

We on the same frequency. Thurman made his statement at 147,

I have a feeling that alot of people that have randomly been calling out mayweather may actually get there chance: Pac, Martinez, Thurman, Alexander/Khan, Mattysse/Garcia, Bradley.

If Thurman doesn't get Mayweather first then he'd probably to beat Broner then call out mayweather. Who ever beats Broner has the perfect time to call out Mayweather, who better than Thurman to do it. Things have just gotten interesting for Thurman! thumbsup_anim.gif I hope he takes on Maidana next.

Broner hasn't been at 135. But omar is still too raw to be in the ring with broner, Thurman could beat broner but I think Thurman won't be able to stay at 147 very long. He has more upside to me than broner at this point, solid chin, good power and boxing ability. He's still young but he has a solid build and he's gonna start to grow out of 147. But for now I'm gonna enjoy the ride, he put on a good show. Him and Alexander would be interesting

Thurman was not about to be stopped but he did take some big shots and he was a little hurt in the early rounds. I think his nose might have even been broken. Thurman and Broner would be a good fight. Thurman has the physical tools to beat Broner pretty badly. I'm just not sure he's smart enough to exploit Broner's weaknesses. When I look at Thurman fight I usually think to things. #1 This dude is very physically gifted but his fight tactics need refinement. #2 This motherfucker looks like he can't read. mellow.gif

I thought Thurman showed a good chin, they were both swinging with bad intention

Al Haymon bags another boxer!!!! Well this would get him closer to Mayweather. You think Khan would blast Thurman? Okay. I think Khan s quicker than Keith but Khan's chin is more fragile than cracked glass.

thurman is a bigger, faster, more well rounded fighter than garcia that can crack with both hands. khan should avoid him at all costs or just plan his retirement party immediately after the fight.

Idk about beating pac and Bradley but id love to see those fights! Garcia ehh... Is have to evaluate how his power carries over to 147, he has great timing.

I don't know what Thurman's record it, but I would say that he needs about seven or eight more fights before he is ready for prime time. He would be able to compete against Broner, primarily because Broner has no business at 147 and, based on the Malignaggi fight, has no punching power at 147. Thurman reminds me of Berto. He looks good against the second and third-tier fighters. However, put Thurman in the ring with someone like Maidana, Alexander, Guerrerro or even Zab Judah and he will be exposed and likely stopped.

GBP has a good stable of quality fighters between 140 and 154. There is a reason why they haven't matched Thurman with any of those guys and won't match with him any of them before 2015.

i get the feeling he's going to be in the mix of things very soon. comparing him to berto is waaay off. you can see this kid has serious understanding and can make adjustments in the ring. he's very calculating and knows how to set shit up. he also has waaaaay better defense than berto. if had to compare their ring iq's....berto should have never graduated from high school and needs to go back and take some remedial classes. thurman is ready for college.
MAHDI
People are high on Thurman and he is pretty good but he is no threat to mayweather. I watched him against Chavez an opponent who Mayweather would literally hack to death and I see many holes and openings for a sharp and accurate puncher. He keeps his hands low often and also gets wide... naaaah. he can do nothing with Floyd
