I was really looking forward to this fight.

Roberto says no time for one time

High risk, low reward
truth
After gerurro lost mayweather he needs a softer fight than one time to build his confidence back.

I think he should've took the fight. Would've been a good one. I wonder who he's going to say yes to. He's been saying he wants Ortiz but Victor hasn't fought in 14months but he says no to the interim titlist whose active

I think he is waiting on fighting Victor Ortiz, I think that fight has fireworks all over it. I say the winner should get Thurman. I would like to see Thurman against Alexander to be honest.
The Original MrFactor
Not all that shocking. Why fight a rough fight you know you will lose. We all must remember tht Guerrero is still a smallish WW. He talked his way into a fight with Mayweather, who is also a smallish WW. He beat up on 2 smallish in Aydin and Berto. Thurman is a solid 147 pounder who will batter Robert from pillar to post. I would have turned it down too...
BoxingStill#1
Therman isn't the guy to beat...yet.. so I can't blame Roberts decision.

But a win over Keith would be meaningful and make a biig statement.

Again, I think Keith would have beat him in a good scrap.

Makes me think what other fights Robert has his eye on

Robert Guerrero turns down another fight?! Get outta here! Say it aint so...
wolterb
I've heard him express that he wants a rematch with mayweather but he'd be delusional to think that is a real likelihood
daprofessor
smart move for all the reasons stated above. he just made decent money against floyd. he can get some easier/winnable fights for the same money he would make against thurman and still put himself back in the mix. thurman is going to be the man to beat at 147 very soon.

Lmao

Smart man, he ain't in a hurry to get knocked out "one time". Thurman is very poised in there, he stops guerrero.

Skeerrred, he skurrrddd, lol.

Damn...I actually gave Guerrero a good chance to win this fight. Roberto isnt that small of a WW. I dont think Thurman could accomplish what Floyd didnt. RG has a granite chin.

I agree with Professor though, it was a smart move, because he can fight someone else a bit more relevant for close to the same money that he made against Floyd. If he beats Thurman, then Im not so sure how much that will do for his career. If he loses to Thurman in a bad fashion, then congrats to Keith and his career moving forward, because Guerrero is more known than him.

When Floyd did this same thing vs Baldomir he was accused of ducking Margarito. I find it totally biased that people can get all over the internet on every boxing website and blog and make an excuse for Robert Guerrero but simply roast Mayweather for the same thing.

The difference being, Floyd said Margarito would be "Easy Work." Guerrero never said such a thing about Thurman because i think we all know that Thurman, like Margarito, aint "Easy Work."

But people EXPECTED more from Floyd...Im not so sure people expect much from Guerrero, that's if they even care to begin with. In my mind, I know that Guerrero will eventually fight Thurman...its not like its never going to happen.

To me, Robert is in that same mix with Maidana, Lopez, Ortiz, Berto, Matthysse, Garcia, Judah, Khan, Alexander, and a few others under GBP...they'll eventually fight, because popularity-wise (not sure if that's even a word), they're careers are only going to go so far.

Out of that bunch, maybe two of them will excel to super stardom. Guerrero's had the biggest fight that he'll ever have...it's just up to the rest of these guys to be built up to a high level, so it wont seem as if Robert is taking that big of a step backwards, at this point in time. Now...maybe late next year, a Thurman fight will be bigger, but now, Robert may wanna wait around for Maidana, Alexander, or Khan.

Look who has come up from air!

Also, factor in Mayweather just left Top Rank and that fight was not going to happen. Guerrero and Thurman are with the same promotional company so really this is Guerrero either trying to get an Ortiz match up or maybe wait for the winner of Broner and Maidana. That would be my guess. Also, Bladomire was a champion if I am not mistaken, what the hell was the Tijuana Tornado?

Damn skippy, the dead has risen!!! Lol

No way in hell Arum was be any type of "nice" to Floyd when it came to negotiations for that Margarito fight. It's weird how TR and GBP have done business since then, but I guess it all fell apart during the Pac/Mayweather debacle. Hell, even Vanes Martirosyan and Erislandy Lara were able to reach a deal late last year.

Now, Lara may be one of those guys who have more than one promoter, so that could have been a reason that the deal was even made in the first place, but I may be wrong about that part.

I believe Baldomir was the unified champ or something like that (not that it means much nowadays), not to mention he had an amazing run that year... Until he fought Floyd.

It's a smart but pussy move for Robert. He talked his way into that Floyd fight, and now he's being a hypocrite because he isn't going to give a young, talented up and comer his chance. It is what it is. Just don't go fight some rollover.

Maybe this dude thinks he's too Hollywood to fight anybody...that's the Robert that I've come to know over the past 2 years. That's the norm nowadays bro, guys get a safe ass-kicking and a payday (at the hands of Floyd), and suddenly, they're too damn Hollywood to fight anybody in the B-level weight class that they came from. Lol

can't fault the guy for wanting to extend his career. thurman is a bad fight for him. he can make the same or better money fighting bigger names with a better chance at winning.

I wouldn't be me if I didn't compliment you on the best avi you've had since I've been a member on here. I see you are swaggin out so i'll leave it at that laugh.gif

I see your point on Guerrero, I don't fault him too much but you have to look at him differently because he was hyping himself as the baddest man on the planet for the last 2 years and now after he loses and loses badly, not only is he quiet but he's turning down fights. Whoever he fights next better not be a pushover...i know he's expressed interest in fighting Ortiz but I think that fight should build a little bit. Victor ain't fought on14 or 15 months, Guerrero can do better then that

Thanks man! Cant stand Broner most of the time, but that silly ass dance of his is hilarious!

At this point, it's really not a bad fight out there for Guerrero. Hell, most of the guys at 140, are gonna move up soon, so his competition is laid out for him. I like how he set his sites on Ortiz...too bad Victor is more interested in everything else other than boxing. I heard that he's training for a part in Expendables 3, cant knock him for that, but c'mon dude, boxing is a jealous sport.

As you mentioned, Ortiz hasn't fought since last June, so yes, Robert can do better in the meantime. Now, had Robert gotten beat by Pacquiao this summer, then he would've more than likely left a bit of himself in the ring...so an ortiz fight would damn near be even steven. Lol

ortiz isn't a boxer anymore imo. i've heard countless stories about him partying with frats on the campuses out here...drunk as fuck...chasing tail. he was a dude with a lot of talent and potential that just seems to be making one wrong decision after the other.

I read that Broner's been getting work in with Roger and also with Nate Jones at Floyd's gym. Hopefully he's paying attention and not swagging out lol

Guerrero, especially after rejecting this fight needs to come back and fight a live body. I'm very interested to see who his comeback opponent is
