Man, if you think of a fight that would be huge for the future of boxing, don't count this one out. As of now, both guys (u can say) have a notable difference in terms of weight and the class that presents them in the present, but some where down the line I see these two in a super fight that would determine the number one guy of Mexico. That being said, both guys, coming off losses to future HOF'ers, have legacies to pave before we get into that... My question is who's the better man today and who do you see having the brighter future?
emd01
I think Canelo will have the brighter future. Looks like Chavez is on a collision course with Ward at 168. I really dont see the 2 ever fighting because of size differences though.
Jack 1000
If Chavez can bounce back, I think Canelo and he would be a great fight! Who would you pick in this potential fight?

Jack

Chavez has the competition to prove he is better with the move to 168, if he can stay dedicated enough to do it is another question. He has good size a decent jab good power. All the tools

Canelo really doesn't have much at 154. Maybe at 160 he can prove himself

Indeed. Ward is going to school him if/when they fight

the window of opportunity closed on this fight. if and when it happens....both will be well past their primes and everyone will be talking about how good it would have been if they fought sooner.

If they were to fight today at 160lbs. I'd go with Chavez. I think his pressure and size would do Canelo in, but never the less be a very entertaining fight.

At this point, two weight classes seperate the two... U don't think somewhere in between can be a weight that could be agreed upon?
Amandla
I think Canelo would outbox him. The kid had nothing against Sergio.

I don't rate him at all but it has to happen.

I dont think Canelo has even reached his prime yet. That dudes going to be a beast when he gets his man strength.

No. The size difference is stupid ridiculous. I doubt Oscar throws his left nut into another horrible match up...especially against a TR fighter. Never happen.

ward is looking like a man on a mission, saw footage of him training in 50s gym the guy doesn't show any rust from surgery.

canelo doesn't have a tenth of the stamina to do what sergio did to him, people make it seem like martinez wasn't working to keep this giant off of him. He threw over a thousand punches in that fight, was constantly giving him angles and head movement. Hate to say it but at a fight at 160 I think canelo gets stopped late. Not to discredit canelo but to credit chavez size and strength (and I'm no chavez fan by any means, the guy has done to much fuckery throughout his career).

Sums it up. Canelo is too small for Chavez Jr.

Damned. I was thinking that Canelo is a big young kid that could fight at 168 and handle this guy because he is more well rounded. I mean, Canelo is not a midget and he forced mayweather to be at his best. Is Chavez that damned big??? Chavez is one dimensional... Canelo has power. I think if Canelo had stamina he could do to Chavez what Moslesy did to Margarito... If Chavez is too big for Canelo then damned he should be fighting Hopkins...

He is simply to short for 168, he would be at a huge disadvantage against anyone in that division. He is just big boned, the kid probably weighs 180+ in between fights. I'm almost positive chavez is in the 200-210 range.

At this point, Canelo is too small for JCC Jr's fat ass. But I always thought Canelo was more skilled than Chavez Jr. At 160, he'd probably beat JCC Jr because Jr would probably be near death trying to make that weight at this point.

Ward is going to beat Rodriguez and I hope Arum is dumb enough to put Julio in there with him for his next fight

He didn't do that with Martinez, but maybe that's because he thought that JCC Jr would beat him.....He protects this kid that's no doubt but eventually you can't protect him from everything. Ward isn't getting out of his contract with his promoter so that's a wrap, what title is he going to win at 168 that TR can control the outcome? Froch and his people ain't giving in to TR, Bika and his team won't do it either...Ward, that leach J Prince, and his promoter ain't going either. Where's he going to go for a title..he's fucked, he's going to have to bend if he wants a title at either 168 or 175...please name me who TR can get to manipulate a title out of at either weight...Hopkins, Kovalev, Stevenson..the only way they can go is with Shumenov and I think Shumenov would beat Chavez Jr.

If he wants a title fight and a big fight then he's going to have to play ball, there's no where for them to go

I really think Arum thought Jr would KO Martinez.

Now, out of all the names you mentioned who could Jr possibly fight and control every aspect of the fight? My bet is Bika. Bika might have a good team but like Ward said Bika "Would be the B side" and I think Jr could possibly beat him especially with a lil help from the judges laugh.gif .
scdrking2
I think Arum is going to come to the conclusion at some point he cant count on JCC Jr enough to consistently cash in on his name recognition and will cash him out in a series of fights.
Kratza
Canelo is the much better fighter and If this fight happened at middleweight Canelo would win
BrutUalBK
Chavez wins , Canelo has overrated pop and Jr is too big for him to hurt, walk down or respect-he steamrolls Alvarez.

Sometimes Bika look like he don't know if he going left or right but your are correct to because Bika doesn't have much to bring to the table and if that fight got made we'd be seeing similar scores to the ones we saw last night lol

Bika has haymon, doubt that fight even gets brought up. And with haymon behind him I doubt those pre-filled scorecards show up, arum is already gonna get into some shit. Veras camp already filed a protest
xxxxxx
This would be a fun fight at 165 Today. Chavez has a nice height advantage, but the reach is comparable and Canelo is the better boxer. Both guys have shown solid chins with good skill sets. I think Chavez would be wise to take it inside with lots of pressure. I don't think he can outbox Canelo, but maybe out muscle him. Could you imagine this one in Mexico!

And ain't a damn thing gon come from that protest in all likelihood...there's really no where for Arum and Chavez Jr to go where they can manipulate the situation in their favor since Bika is off the table
