"Shane has a great chance of beating Alvarez. Even though Shane is the older fighter, he's faster and he can punch," stated world-class trainer Roger Mayweather, who shared his thoughts on Saturday's other big clash, the intriguing matchup between WBC jr. middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez and three-division world champion Shane Mosley. According to Roger, the level of competition that Canelo has faced is not up to par with a fighter that has credentials of Mosley, who he believes still packs enough punch to cause serious problems should he connect.
"Matthew Hatton can't fucking fight. That boy [Alfonso Gomez] he fought on Floyd's last card can't fucking fight, so no matter what he did to them guys, them guys aren't nowhere near Shane Mosley and what he can do," Roger explained. "Shane has a really good shot, but he gonna have to lay it on the line." Whether or not Mosley can still lay it on the line is the question, as prior injuries have resulted in less-than-stellar performances. Come May 5th, we'll find out if the experience of Shane Mosley will be enough to overcome the youth of Canelo Alvarez.
