According to the official Twitter page of Top Rank promotions, a fall showdown between WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and middleweight king Sergio Martinez is a done deal. The bout is scheduled to take place on September 15th at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be televised live on HBO Pay-Per-View. Sampson Lewkowicz, the adviser of Sergio Martinez, also confirmed the news on his own Twitter page.
"I have just received a call from Lou DiBella Confirming Chavez jr. Martinez Is a done deal," Lewkowicz would write. "Chavez jr.& Martinez will be a very competitive fight and will surpass 1million PPV buys." Although it's unclear if contracts have been officially signed by both sides, Lewkowicz revealed that plans for the first press conference to promote the bout are already under way. The event will go head-to-head with a Golden Boy Promotions pay-per-view card being headlined by WBC jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and former welterweight champion Victor Ortiz, assuming Ortiz gets past his upcoming clash with Josesito Lopez.
