Earlier today, rapper turned boxing promoter 50 Cent appeared on Power 105.1 and confirmed the reports that he's looking to join forces with 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao . "Right. Yeah," he replied with a smile when asked if the reports were true. He would then speak about the status of his friendship with undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather before also revealing that he previously raised $200 million dollars when Mayweather called Pacquiao to offer him $40 million. It appears as though 50 Cent's original idea was to start a promotional company with both Mayweather and Pacquiao in hopes of staging the mega-fight with or without the services of Al Haymon and Bob Arum. Check out what else he had to say.
"Floyd is a friend of mine."
"I look at Floyd like he's my younger brother."
"He earns so much that he just spends it. He just run around and spend it; he spend it and do do what he want, so there's no urgency to anything. And then when the communication breaks and it starts to not be...look, my concept of TMT is the fights you want to see. It's Floyd and Manny Pacquiao, the fight. If actually building the company would build excitement to keep Floyd conscience of what's good for business opposed to the ego, then I can sacrifice the company putting them together on that financial end and saying y'all can promote the whole thing and take it; I get $200 million easy. I raised it twice for my film production company. That's what it would cost for the fight. You see what I'm saying? So if, when I put the money, the first time he offered Pacquiao 40 (million), you know I was over there. Where that money come from? You know what I'm saying? So it's like I'm moving and shaking; I'm into OPM for real, other people's money."
"I don't think so. I think he'll go, 'I wish him luck,' because anybody that you see that is in communication like that guy that you been around to the point that you can say, 'That's my brother'...or that I, you know, I don't care...it's not like I wasn't in communication with him. I text it to him and everything."
