FightHype.com is on hand at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California for today's press conference to officially announce the fourth encounter between 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and 4-division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez. The bout will take place on December 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and, according to the press kit, there will indeed be no catchweight for the welterweight contest.
The last time both men faced each other, back on November 12, 2011, Marquez had just moved up to the jr. welterweight (140 lbs.) division, so the bout was contested at a catchweight of 144 pounds. On the day of the weigh-in, Marquez weighed 142 pounds while Pacquiao tipped the scales at 143 pounds. Since then, both fighters went on to take another bout, with Marquez moving back down to 140 pounds and defeating Serhiy Fedchenko while Pacquiao faced Timothy Bradley at 147 pounds, losing a controversial split decision.
This time, it appears that both men have agreed to square off at the full welterweight limit of 147 pounds. That should be an advantage for Pacquiao, who looked a lot more comfortable fighting at the higher weight in his last bout.
