"The two fighters are the great fighters, but I think Mayweather," stated 4-division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez when asked who would win if 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao faced off against undefeated pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather. Marquez is one of a handful of fighters who has actually fought both men, losing a lopsided unanimous decision to Mayweather while coming up on the short end of the stick in two controversial decisions and a draw against Pacquiao. That being said, there's no doubt in his mind how a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao would play out.
"Everybody knows Floyd. Floyd is very defense; he don't have aggressive, and Manny I think [is] looking for the fight all night. You know Mayweather, he don't like to fight. He's very defense. I think Mayweather is the best fighter in the defense," Marquez stated as he explained his reasoning during an appearance on ESPN's First Take earlier today. As convinced as he was about the outcome of the fight, Marquez was just as sure when came to answering the question about which fighter punches harder . "Him," he quickly responded as he pointed to Pacquiao. "Because he likes to fight."
Regardless, Marquez is hoping to put an end to any further talk about a mega-fight that has yet to happen. "If Manny wants to fight Mayweather, he needs to beat me...He have a tough fight on December the 8th," the future Hall of Famer said in closing, reminding everyone that he plans on handing Pacquiao his second loss in a row and essentially killing anyone's hopes of the mega-fight actually taking place.
