Evidently, Andre Berto is now represented by Golden Boy Promotions, according to the company's CEO, Richard Schaefer. Speaking to Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times, Schaefer revealed that he now "represents" the former welterweight champion, and contrary to reports, he's had no discussions with representatives of Top Rank about a potential December 15 clash between Berto and WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley.
"He hasn't talked to us about Berto. Who is he talking to? He wants an easy fight and HBO is empowering him. It has nothing to do with money...HBO is getting played," Schaefer would explain earlier today. Make no mistake, when it comes to Berto's career, he's still under the guidance of influential advisor Al Haymon. That being said, Schaefer's comments are a clear indication that Berto will now be working with Richard Schaefer and Golden Boy Promotions as opposed to his former promoter, Lou DiBella.
