Yesterday evening, it was reported that four-division world champion Erik Morales tested positive for a banned substance just days before his scheduled rematch with unified jr. welterweight champion Danny Garcia this Saturday, October 20, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Originally, it was being reported by some that the rematch would likely move forward as scheduled, largely due to the fact that allegedly the results from the B Sample would not be available until some time after Saturday. FightHype.com, however, has confirmed that the results came back today, and according to our source, the B Sample also tested positive...sort of.
Apparently, after his first sample tested positive, Morales had two more samples that were sent off for additional testing. One of those samples also tested positive, however, the second sample reportedly came back with a reading of 0. At this point, we're not exactly sure what that means, and it's still unclear whether or not the rematch will indeed take place. Moments after the weigh-in, Garcia's father and trainer, Angel, made it clear that if the B Sample came back positive, no amount of money would convince him to tell his son to move forward with the bout. From our understanding, representatives from Team Garcia are now deciding whether or not they will indeed move forward with the bout.
