"I think with guys like Froch and guys like Kessler, you know, I mean, just being honest with you, it's like, they have to say my name, because if they want to be considered the best, they have to say my name," stated undefeated super middleweight king Andre Ward, who commented on recent statements made two of his former opponents, Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler. In the past, Froch and Kessler have been reluctant to talk about a potential rematch with Ward, who easily defeated both men during his march to victory in the Super Six Tournament. Now, they seem much more vocal about the possibility of facing Ward again. While Ward welcomes the opportunity, he's not sure if either man is really willing to back up their comments.
"When these guys are getting interviewed, they know that they can't avoid saying my name, so they're put in a position where they have to say it. Now, how bad they really want the fight, time will tell. I mean, we haven't got any offers or anything from either guy that says that they want to fight," Ward explained during a recent surprise visit to the FightHype Radio Show. "We don't have to fight either one of those guys because we beat both of them, but it is an option and we're open to it. We just need to see, you know, what it looks like. We gotta see what the opportunity looks like, but in terms of me having something official, we haven't got anything official from either fighter."
