"To all the lightweight fighters, tell your managers to stop pacifying you! Take the nipple out of your mouths and tell them to let you fight. If any one of y'all fighters are man enough to step in the ring and get blessed, come on, I'll bless you nicely at 135, lightweight. I'm not at 140 no more. If any of y'all lightweights out there are ready for a test, come on and get blessed," stated former jr. welterweight champion DeMarcus Corley, he made it clear that he's ready, willing, and able to take on anyone in the lightweight division. Check out what else he had to say about his future plans and more!
JR: Demarcus, I understand you have an announcement you want to make.
DC: To all the lightweight fighters, tell your managers to stop pacifying you! Take the nipple out of your mouths and tell them to let you fight. If any one of y'all fighters are man enough to step in the ring and get blessed, come on, I'll bless you nicely at 135, lightweight. I'm not at 140 no more. If any of y'all lightweights out there are ready for a test, come on and get blessed."
JR: Is this announcement due to an issue of money? How soon are you looking to get back in the ring?
DC: I don't need the money. I'm looking to get in the ring immediately. I'm working with Angel [Garcia] now. He's in my corner, he's training me, and he's still training Danny, so I'm ready.
JR: So you're looking to surround yourself with a new team?
DC: It's time for me to finish my career on top. I need to be with a team [Garcia] that's going to push me and be in my best interest when fighting and outside of the ring. As far as me working with Angel and Team Garcia, it's about a 80% done deal right now. We were working and talking every day when I was in camp with Danny. Angel is working on finding me something. We are going back and forth with DiBella Entertainment. DiBella wants me to go back to fight for a title that I vacated. Why would I fight for that title again? I'm not 140 no more. When I was champion, they didn't want to come fight me. It's a no-win situation for me and I've been in that boat too many times.
JR: Speak to me more on the DiBella situation. What's going on there?
DC: I have one fight left on the contract with DiBella, but the people at DiBella keep on saying to me that no one wants to fight me in the United States. I'm like, how is that possible? I'm an old man. Anybody can beat an old man, right? Isn't that what they say?
JR: You are right, however, there were rumors circulating for a while about you possibly fighting Paul Spadafora in 2013. Was this just a rumor? Where are you at regarding that fight?
DC: We haven't heard nothing back from Roy's [Jones Jr.] people. Roy hit me up on Twitter saying he wanted to make the fight. We told him we'll do it, just send the paperwork over and go from there. Roy and his people never put the paperwork up to my promoter, so there is no fight with Paul Spadafora.
JR: Is there anything else on your mind Chop Chop?
DC: Yeah, if they're still looking for an opponent for Vicente Escobedo, I mean, I'm available.
JR: I think he has Edner Cherry for that February show.
DC: Well, I'll take the winner of that match. 135, lightweight, I'm ready!
