"I know they will keep me busy. They have already gone to work and I will be on the February 23rd card in Detroit, so that's good because I work with Ishe, so it will be good to have both of us on the card. I'm back in the gym already, so I will be ready. This fight was nothing for me, so I barely broke a sweat. I'm right back in the gym, so I will be in good shape," stated up-and-coming super middleweight Badou Jack, who talked about his recent knockout victory this past weekend, his future plans, and much more. Check it out!
PC: You have been off for a while now. How did it feel to get back in there on Saturday night?
BJ: It felt good to be back. It was easy work; one round knockout.
PC: When you are coming off of that kind of layoff, it's gotta be a good feeling to get in there and take care of business right away.
BJ: This guy took the fight on short notice I think, but it felt great to be back. I told everybody I was going to make a statement and get him out of there early. I been in camp for 2 months. I was ready for a tougher fight, but we are going to stay busy, so it was a good comeback fight.
PC: You went back home to Sweden while some things got ironed out here. What were you doing while you were out there?
BJ: I was just staying in the gym. I had a hard time, but I never gave up hope. I had problems with my manager. We had been talking to Floyd and we finally got a deal.
PC: That is the other huge news from the weekend is that you are now officially part of Mayweather Promotions and The Money Team. How does that feel?
BJ: It feels great. Without Floyd's help, my career might have been over, so I'm really blessed and thankful for him helping me out. It's a dream come true.
PC: And by working with Eddie Mustafa, you have been getting some work in with Chad Dawson on top of the good work you get with guys like Ishe and the team. What is that like to get that kind of good work day in and day out?
BJ: I can't ask for better work. You are bound to go straight to the top with work like that. If you ask Chad, he has good things to say about me, so it's perfect.
PC: How many times are you looking to fight this year and when can we expect to see you back in there?
BJ: I don't know; that's up to Floyd and Ellerbe, but I know they will keep me busy. They have already gone to work and I will be on the February 23rd card in Detroit, so that's good because I work with Ishe, so it will be good to have both of us on the card. I'm back in the gym already, so I will be ready. This fight was nothing for me, so I barely broke a sweat. I'm right back in the gym, so I will be in good shape.
PC: Talk us through the knockout. What did you catch him with?
BJ: The first knockdown, I hit him with a left hook to the head and the body too, so I don't really know which one did the damage because it was a delayed reaction when he went down.
PC: Now that you are back in the States with a good team around you, what do you feel you have to work on to reach the top?
BJ: I need to work on everything to get better at everything; speed, defense and everything. I feel great though. I felt sharp in there on Saturday night.
PC: I wish you the best this year. I look forward to the quick turnaround fight. Is there anything you want to add?
BJ: I want to thank everybody that supports me; especially Floyd. And everybody can follow me on Twitter and Instagram @BadouJack!
