"I'm really not worrying about jumping weight classes. I know that I'm gonna do a lot of great things in the sport, you know, and I'm going to do them differently, so with that being said, we'll see something explosive. You'll probably see another knockout," stated undefeated lightweight champion Adrien Broner, who spoke to the media during a conference call about his upcoming June 22 showdown with WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi. Despite the fact that the lightweight champion is jumping up two weight classes to face Malignaggi, Broner made it clear that he's not at all concerned about the weight or the punching power of the naturally bigger man.
"He's bringing pillows to a fight that I'm throwing bricks, so you should see a lot of blood and a lot of bruises before the referee stops the fight," Broner continued. "For me, the weight is not a problem. I'm originally a welterweight anyway. I just have to lose weight. So I really didn't have to do anything different...I mean, I don't walk around at 130 pounds; I don't walk around at 135 pounds. I walk around at 147, 150 pounds, so I'm at my regular weight."
