Earlier today, former jr. welterweight champion Amir Khan released a statement revealing that he was parting ways with longtime business manager Asif Vali. Evidently, it hasn't taken Khan long to already come up with a replacement. Sources close to the information have informed us that Khan is strongly considering adding the services of influential adviser Al Haymon to his team in the very near future. Should he move forward with that decision, Khan would join former welterweight champion Victor Ortiz and heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder as the newest additions to Haymon's rapidly growing stable of fighters, which already includes Floyd Mayweather, Adrien Broner, Danny Garcia, Lucas Matthysse, Devon Alexander, Peter Quillin, Leo Santa Cruz, Gary Russell Jr., Austin Trout, Erislandy Lara, Andre Berto, Sakio Bika, Seth Mitchell, Chris Arreola, and Josesito Lopez, just to name a few.
The news of Khan and his business manager parting ways comes on the heels of Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer making a trip to Dubai to presumably discuss a deal to stage a December fight there between Khan and IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander. Whether or not the outcome of Schaefer's trip had anything to do with Khan's decision remains to be seen, however, thus far, we have yet to receive any word on the likelihood of Alexander vs. Khan taking place in Dubai. Be sure to check back soon as more details become available.
