According to reports out of Big Bear, undefeated jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has been sparring with the son of future Hall of Famer "Sugar" Shane Mosley. Apparently, the 22-year-old Shane Mosley Jr. has been providing good work in camp as Canelo continues to prepare for his highly-anticipated September 14 showdown with undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather.
Initially, Mosley Jr. sparred with Canelo, who is using Mosley's gym for training camp, just for fun. Evidently, the work was good enough to convince Canelo to send one of his original sparring partners home early in favor of using Mosley Jr., who was asked to spar more with the undefeated champion. Though he's still an amateur, Mosley Jr. is about 6-feet tall and currently weighing 165 pounds. Whether or not he's providing the kind of work to prepare Canelo for Floyd Mayweather remains to be seen, however, in about 6 weeks, we'll soon find out.
