ROSADO NOT PLEASED WITH "RETARDED" OFFER TO FIGHT QUILLIN: "I MADE MORE MONEY IN THE LOVE FIGHT"

ROSADO NOT PLEASED WITH

"They are offering me Kid Chocolate for September 30th, but the money is bullshit. I mean, they're not even offering 6 figures. The money is bullshit...I made $200,000 against GGG. I made some good paper on that fight, and I made more money in the Love fight than what they're offering now for Kid, so it's retarded...All they're offering me is Kid Chocolate, but they're offering me bullshit money...They're not giving me enough to take that risk. If y'all pay me what y'all should pay, I'd jump on that fight ASAP. It's like they want me to fight Kid, but they really don't want me to fight Kid. They bullshittin' with this money," stated jr. middleweight contender Gabriel Rosado, who is less than pleased with the offer he received from Golden Boy Promotions for a potential September 30th title fight on FOX with undefeated WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin. You don't want to miss what he had to say. Check it out!

BT: What's good, Gabe?

GR: Chillin', chillin'.

BT: What's the latest with you? I know you were hoping to get back in the mix at 154, but have you had any offers yet? When can fans expect to see you back in the ring?

GR: They are offering me Kid Chocolate for September 30th, but the money's bullshit. I mean, they're not even offering 6 figures. The money is bullshit! And Love is talking about this rematch, but if he wants a rematch, they gotta pay up. If they want a rematch, then they gotta pay what's right, you know what I'm sayin'. I'm definitely not going to take the Kid fight for what they're offering.

BT: Wow! Less than 6 figures sounds real low for a championship fight against an undefeated Al Haymon/Golden Boy fighter like Peter Quillin. I mean, I would assume that they'd put that fight on a Showtime Championship Boxing card.

GR: Nah, and I feel like it's real shit. They said the fight's on Fox, and Fox really ain't paying.

BT: Man, I know they made the offer to you, but I find it extremely hard to believe that Al Haymon is going to have his undefeated middleweight champion defend his title on a Monday Fox card for basically peanuts. That sounds like a non-offer; an offer that they already knew you would refuse. Do you think they might have made such a lowball offer on purpose?

GR: Yeah, well, Eric Gomez was pretty persistent on it. He called my lawyer on Sunday asking for an answer and I was just like, "Nah! They're not paying. It's stupid." Even if I was to win the fight and it went to a decision, I'm not going to get the decision, and next thing you know, my next fight, I'm getting like $10 grand. It's going to set me back like 2 years and shit, so business-wise, it don't even make no sense to me. If they were giving me something financially where it was worth taking the risk, but I could be alright, then, you know, it's worth the risk.

BT: I don't want to get all up in your business with the numbers, but without giving specifics, can you tell me if the offer was less than you made for the Love or Golovkin fights?

GR: I made $200,000 against GGG. I made some good paper on that fight, and I made more money in the Love fight than what they're offering now for Kid, so it's retarded, you know what I mean. I mean, I had a good year in 2012 with all the fights.

BT: Wow! I really don't understand why they would even offer you less money for a title shot against Quillin than you just made to fight J. Love. That just don't sound right.

GR: Yeah, it's crazy. I mean, pretty much they're offering me the fight that I want, but the money is stupid. And we all know that I need to knockout Kid in Brooklyn or bust his ass in every round. The Kid fight is not an easy fight for me or him. It's going to be a tough fight for the both of us, you know what I mean. That's a war right there. He ain't backing down and I'm not backing down, so it should be financially worth it, because if it's a close fight, it definitely ain't going my way. If they want me to fight Kid and they that serious, then they need to pay me what's right. They gotta make it worth my while finanically because he's the champ and the fight's in his hometown. Who the fuck is going to fight Kid for $50,000?

BT: Shit, nobody that I know.

GR: Exactly. That's what I'm sayin'. Is anybody really going to do that? Nobody's really going to do that. I don't know if they're just trying to get me in a situation where they think I'm desparate. I'm not desparate, you know what I mean. Do I want a world title? Of course I do, but I'm not desparate where I'm going to take that type of pay.

BT: Well in my opinion, I don't think they're really serious about making that fight. It sounds to me like they're just lowballing you in hopes of keeping you on ice for whatever fight they really want you to take, which is probably the rematch with Love.

GR: It looks like my only situation is fighting Love because, for real, for real, I can't even get a fight at 54. It's crazy. If it's gonna be Love, then they definitely gotta come through with some bread.

BT: Have they even offered you any legitimate fights at 154?

GR: Nah. None. We asked for Lara, but they didn't reply back. We asked for Trout, and Trout says he's willing to fight, but I don't think Al Haymon wants to make that. Then we asked for K9, and K9 thinks he's a superstar like he's Mayweather or Cotto status. I don't even know what's wrong with K9. He had his first big fight with Ishe and nobody really knew who K9 was. I'm thinking like me and K9 would be a perfect fight because he can't get a fight and I can't get a fight, so we might as well fight, but I don't know what's up with him. So pretty much, we can't even get a fight at 54. All they're offering me is Kid Chocolate, but they're offering me bullshit money. People are saying, "Damn, a fight between Kid and Gabe would be the shit." And they're right, it would be the shit, but they're not making it worth my while. They're not giving me enough to take that risk. If y'all pay me what y'all should pay, I'd jump on that fight ASAP. It's like they want me to fight Kid, but they really don't want me to fight Kid. They bullshittin' with this money.

BT: Sounds like they're bullshittin' with everything; the money, the date, the network, just everything. Like I said before, Peter Quillin vs. Gabriel Rosado just doesn't sound like a fight that should be headlining a Fox card in the first place.

GR: Yeah, I mean, when they came at us with the low offer, I was like, why don't they just put us on the Bernard Hopkins card as the co-main event in AC. He could have his people from New York, and I would have my people from Philly, and that would be an event right there. HBO got Alvarado and the Russian dude, so I would think Showtime would really need a big fight to kind of compete with the ratings that night. I don't see how that fight couldn't be possible, and there would be enough money on the table to pay me and Kid. If they're really serious about making me and Kid, they'll put it as a co-main event in Atlantic City. It makes perfect sense, so it's like, do y'all really want to make this fight? How do you put me and Kid on Fox? That shit is retarded.
