"He's a great referee. He's fair and I think he's gonna let us fight," stated undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather, who shared his thoughts on the selection of Kenny Bayless as the referee for his upcoming September 14 showdown with undefeated jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. As far as Mayweather is concerned, the selection of Bayless as the referee, as well as Dave Moretti, CJ Ross, and Craig Metcalfe as the three judges, ensures that both fighters will be treated fairly both during and after the fight.
"A lot of times, you got refs that's always breaking the action up and Kenny Bayless is one guy, I mean, he's not for the bullshit. He likes to treat every fighter fair," Mayweather explained during a conference call to promote the bout. "I'm comfortable with whatever, you know. My job is just to go out there and compete. It doesn't matter who's the judges. I just want to be treated fair. Of course, I feel like both fighters should be treated fair, and I feel like they chose the right judges, I feel like they chose the right referee, and now it's time for me and Canelo to go out there and give you guys excitement."
