According to his official Twitter page, former jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez plans on fighting three times in 2014. "After my meeting with GBP [Golden Boy Promotions] these are the dates that I will fight in 2014: March 8, July 26, and November 22," Alvarez would inform his 400,000+ Twitter followers earlier today. In fact, to make matters even more interesting, apparently, all three of those fights will be on pay-per-view.
"My three dates will be on PPV and the first opponent of March 8 will be announced in the coming weeks," Alvarez also posted. Whether or not all three of those fights will actually be televised on pay-per-view remains to be seen, however, it's clear that Golden Boy Promotions is hoping to capitalize on Canelo's drawing power after the financial success they had in his bout this past September with undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather.
Considering that Mayweather himself will also be participating in pay-per-view bouts in May and September of 2014, it looks like fans might want to start saving their money now as Golden Boy Promotions prepares to ramp up the number of pay-per-views in the new year.
