"The guys he knocked out, he was able to hit. He gotta hit me first. He gotta hit me first, and he's never been hit by me. So, you know, we'll all see; we will see what happens December 14," stated undefeated WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner, who talked about his game plan for his upcoming December 14 showdown with former jr. welterweight champion Marcos Maidana. Although he obviously didn't give away all of the details, judging from his comments, it's clear that Broner plans on utilizing his superior defensive skills to avoid any big bombs that the hard-hitting Maidana will look to catch him with.
"I don't fight nobody the same. Maidana has to show me; he has to make me respect his power and his boxing skills. If, you never know, when I make my adjustments inside the ring December 14th, then I'll do what I have to do to get my victory, but until then, we just staying sharp," he explained. "You know, Paulie's a good, helluva fighter, throw a lot of shots, but he couldn't hit me. He couldn't hit me with nothing flush. You know, with Maidana, he's definitely a proven, hard-hitting puncher, but he got to hit me. It's not like I'm gonna let him hit me. He gots to hit me."
When asked to share his thoughts on Maidana boxing skills, Broner added, "I don't watch no tape, you know. I know he's a helluva fighter. He's gonna come to fight. He's not going to lay down unless I make him lay down, and I don't have no problem with laying nobody down."
