Jr. middleweight contender Jermell Charlo kept his undefeated record intact with an impressive performance, scoring a unanimous decision victory over Gabriel Rosado at the D.C. Armory in Washington, D.C. Charlo made the fight look easy behind a sharp jab and crisp combinations. Though Rosado tried to apply pressure early on, Charlo kept his cool and controlled the pace with his ring generalship.
In the 5th round, Rosado suffered a nasty cut over his left eye, which would ultimately become a target for the sharp-shooting Charlo throughout the rest of the fight. Rosado had a few rallies in the late rounds, but by then, it was too little, too late. In the end, the judges scored the bout 97-93, 99-91, and 100-90 all for Charlo, whose performance warranted a future clash with any of the top names in the 154-pound division.
