Undefeated WBO super featherweight champion Mikey Garcia cruised to an easy unanimous decision victory over once-beaten challenger Juan Carlo Burgos at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York. Other than a well-placed left hook that momentarily buckled the champion in the second round, Garcia was never really tested as Burgos became more reluctant to let his hands go as the fight progressed.
Garcia was patient throughout the fight, taking what was given to him and doing enough to control the tempo in every round. Though the lack of action drew occasional boos from the crowd, it was a dominant performance by Garcia, who consistently found a home for his jab and straight right. In the end, the judges easily scored the bout 118-110, 118-110, and 119-109 all in favor of Garcia.
