Undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather has seemingly co-signed the request of former jr. welterweight champion Amir Khan to fight former welterweight champion Adrien Broner on his May 3 undercard. Earlier today, Khan took to Twitter to essentially throw down the gauntlet, offering to fight Mayweather's self-proclaimed "little brother" on the undercard of the highly-anticipated Mayweather vs. Maidana event.
"@FloydMayweather, tell @AdrienBroner to fight me on your card and when I beat him, you fight me next," Khan wrote, making it crystal clear that he's willing to do whatever it takes to start hyping up a future showdown with Mayweather. To the surprise of many, Mayweather actually retweeted Khan's comment to his nearly 4.7 million followers, which likely means he agrees with the idea. For whatever reason, however, Showtime Sports Excecutive Vice President Stephen Espinoza seems to be strongly against the idea. Though he didn't give any clear reason, Espinoza told his followers on Twitter that there was no possibility of Khan vs. Broner taking place on May 3.
Despite Espinoza's comments, FightHype.com can confirm that Floyd Mayweather does indeed like the idea of both Adrien Broner and Amir KHan fighting on his card. Whether or not the door is completely closed on the potential clash remains to be seen.
