"You know what? It makes sense. I should get with him. I think it's a good idea to maybe talk to Al Haymon and maybe get the ball moving," stated former jr. welterweight champion Amir Khan, who recently informed FightHype.com that he was indeed considering the prospect of having discussions with influential advisor Al Haymon. Though it's unclear as to whether or not those discussions have actually begun, we can confirm that Khan has instructed his team to reach out to representatives of Haymon.
This latest development might have something to do with Khan's frustrations regarding his inability to secure a mega-fight with undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather. Since parting ways with his previous business manager, Asif Vali, during the summer of 2013, Khan has essentially been self-managed, relying heavily on the advice of his father, Shah Khan, and his lawyer. Thus far, not only has his current team been unsuccesful in securing a lucrative payday with Mayweather, but they also successfully talked him out of a payday and title shot with former welterweight champion Devon Alexander last December. One can understand why Khan is now considering joining the Haymon stable of fighters.
