Former jr. welterweight champion Amir Khan and former welterweight champion Adrien Broner continue to trade insults via Twitter, fueling the demand from fans for a potential showdown between the two fighters. Undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather has expressed his desire for the two to fight on the undercard of his May 3 title unification with WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana, even going so far as to promise Khan a fight with him should he get past Broner.
Unfortunately, Showtime Sports Executive Vice President Stephen Espinoza continues to downplay the likelihood of the fight taking place on May 3, telling fans via his own Twitter account that "Broner likely going to 140, Khan going to 147. Catchweight would just delay their adjustment to their desired weight classes." Despite Espinoza's claims that there are "other reasons" why the fight likely won't happen, both Broner and Khan continue to take jabs at each other as if they do indeed prefer to fight.
