"I think it might be a good idea to fight on his undercard as chief support," stated former jr. welterweight champin Amir Khan, who recently hinted to BBC Radio 5 Live that he will indeed be fighting on the undercard of the eagerly-anticipated May 3 welterweight unification between undefeated WBC champion Floyd "Money" Mayweather and hard-hitting WBA champion Marcos Maidana. "Being in front of his face is kind of good because Floyd will always see me, plus he knows that he should have been fighting me instead of Maidana," he explained regarding his decision.
"It's not been confirmed fully just yet who we're going to fight," Khan continued. "I'm still young, hungry and whoever it is on 3 May - which I think will be fight day for me - will be in lot of trouble because I've been out of the ring for such a long time." Though he fell short of naming who his opponent might be, sources recently informed FightHype.com that former welterweight champion Luis Collazo has been tabbed with the assignment. The southpaw Collazo is coming off of an impressive 2nd round knockout of fellow former welterweight champion Victor Ortiz. It should be noted that Khan was recently spotted in the gym sparring with southpaws.
