EDDIE CHAMBERS: "PREPARATION HAS BEEN GREAT...NOT ONLY AM I STILL RELEVANT, BUT ALSO A REAL CONTENDER"

EDDIE CHAMBERS:

"The change has been great. Peter has me focused on boxing more and it's paying dividends as you can already see through the changes in physique, and you'll see the massive change in overall condition... not only am I still relevant, but also a real contender for a world title... they are gonna see another side of me as well. Without giving too much away, let's just say it will be a bit more entertaining," stated heavyweight contender Eddie Chambers, who talked about his upcoming April 12 clash with Ian Lewison, his return to the heavyweight division, and much more. Check it out!

PC: How is everything going, Eddie?

EC: Pretty well; working my tail off over here in the U.K.

PC: You have made a lot of changes, from location to trainers. What prompted the changes?

EC: To be honest, it had nothing to do with the trainer. James Ali Bashir is probably the most underrated trainer in boxing! It was more the opportunity and the situation I was in. Peter Fury is not only a great trainer in his own right, but he has the resources to get me where I need to go!

PC: In your last fight against Mchunu, I heard you sparred a lot; maybe too much. Do you feel you overtrained for that fight?

EC: Not at all. The Mchunu fight was more of a case of not enough preparation. Not only that, but not the right kind of preparation due to finances.

PC: This is the most mass I have ever seen on you. Did you feel like if you were gonna be going back up to heavyweight that you needed to add strength to your game?

EC: Well, I always felt strong as a heavyweight. Even at low weights I was able to move my opponents around even with the size disadvantages. This just adds to that without sacrificing any speed.

PC: Where are you at now, who is training you, and what has the transition been like?

EC: I'm now trained by Peter Fury and I'm training in Manchester, England. The change has been great. Peter has me focused on boxing more and it's paying dividends as you can already see through the changes in physique, and you'll see the massive change in overall condition.

PC: Let's talk about your upcoming fight. You will be back in the ring on April 12th against Ian Lewison. How has your preparation been?

EC: Preparation has been great, but extremely hard. It took some getting used to, to say the least (laughing), so with that being said, I'm looking forward to getting out there again.

PC: I'm sure you are aware that your last fight wasn't your best outing. What do you want to show in this fight to kind of erase the memory of your last fight?

EC: Just that one bad night does not define a career, and also that with the right preparation, I have the capabilities to beat anybody.

PC: What's the biggest difference now that you are not in Philadelphia preparing for these fights?

EC: The biggest difference is that my singular focus is aimed at boxing. Everyone has a bit of drama, but mine at this time is at a minimum.

PC: Although most thought you won the Adamek fight, you are on the first 2-fight losing streak of your career. How vital is this fight for you to remain relevant?

EC: Honestly, boxing is a what have you done for me lately sport. Once I get out here and prove that not only am I still relevant, but also a real contender for a world title, not just to fight for it, not just to win it, but to defend it.

PC: What can fans expect from you in April?

EC: Fans can expect what they have always seen from me and that's quality boxing, but now, they are gonna see another side of me as well. Without giving too much away, let's just say it will be a bit more entertaining.

PC: Good luck next month. I hope to see you get back to your winning ways. Is there anything else you want to add?

EC: Just to say to all boxing fans that I love you all and to continue to support all fighters because it takes a special person to climb through those ropes.
