"@KrusherKovalev You just a real slow BUM with no defence. Easy work," wrote WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, who immediately took to Twitter to blast WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev following his dominant 7th round knockout of previously undefeated Cedric Agnew. Apparently, Stevenson took offense to Kovalev calling him a "piece of shit" during his post-fight interview.
"@Main_Events @KrusherKovalev Tell your mama Kathy Duva to stop crying and to call @yvonmichelGYM and @AlHaymon to make the fight happen! BUM," Stevenson commented in a follow-up post on Twitter, making it clear that he's ready, willing, and able to face Kovalev. Up first for Stevenson, however, is a May 24 title defense against Andrzej Fonfara, which will be televised by Showtime. More than anything, the Cold War between the two networks [HBO and Showtime] will likely prevent a unification between Kovalev and Stevenson from taking place, however, judging from Stevenson's comments, it appears that he's at least willing to come to the negotiating table to see if something can be worked out.
