"Why don't you ask when, the guy who's picture is up all over the building [Floyd Mayweather], when he's going to fight somebody real," stated promoter Bob Arum, who took a shot at undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather shortly after undefeated WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley stepped away from the podium during the final press conference to promote his upcoming rematch with multi-division world champion Manny Pacquiao. Evidently, Arum is not pleased about the fact that the MGM Grand has multiple pictures of Mayweather, including a huge banner with his picture and the phrase "Home of the Champion" on the side of the building, already promoting the May 3 clash with WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana while Pacquiao is set to face Bradley 3 days from now.
"That's why one company makes a billion dollars a quarter and the other hustles to pay it's debt. There it is. There it is. Say it like it is," Arum continued. "There are 3 really good fights [on the undercard]. All fight, maybe not the biggest name in the world, but all fights that are even money or 2 to 1, unlike 15 to 1 fights with a big guy who ought to be locked up for the way he tweets. But again, you pay your money, you take your choice. Also, none of the fighters on the card had to pay anybody off to get on the card, unlike how some other people operate on some other networks. That was an old tactic that Frankie Carbo used, but it doesn't go with HBO or Top Rank."
Arum added, "If whatever I said was incendiary, I'm an old guy and I apologize."
