"It was kind of cool today that Timothy Bradley came by the gym to show love, show support," stated undefeated WBC welterweight champion Floyd "Money" Mayweather, who received a visit from former welterweight champion Timothy Bradley just days before he gets set to unify his title with WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana. Just days before the fight, Mayweather was in the middle of a late-night workout when Bradley limped into the gym seemingly unnoticed, his right leg in a boot after recently tearing his calf muscle in a unanimous decision loss to Manny Pacquiao.
Despite the injury, Bradley remained standing the entire time as he watched intensely, his eyes focused on Mayweather's every move. "He looks sharp. He looks ready to go," Bradley commented as Mayweather moved from the heavybag back to the ring for more work with uncle Roger and good friend Nate Jones. After Mayweather put the finishing touches on one of the final workouts before Saturday's bout, he went back to the locker room where he imparted more knowledge to a select group, which included Bradley, who appeared to be hanging on his every word.
"He let me know that him and the guy, he looks Asian, but I think he's Russian [Ruslan Provodnikov], they got Fight of the Year, which is a good thing," Mayweather explained when asked about Bradley's visit. Though he didn't go into any further detail, it seemed clear that Bradley's visit was a learning experience, especially considering how surprised he was to see Mayweather eating a big slice of pizza after his workout. "I thought you only did that for TV," Bradley chuckled.
