Moments ago at the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles, California, Bermane Stiverne scored an impressive 6th-round knockout of Chris Arreola, capturing the WBC heavyweight title and becoming the first ever Haitian-born heavyweight champion in the process. Arreola backs Stiverne up to the ropes and whales on the arms with a 1-2. Stiverne looks content to lay on the ropes. Double jab upstairs and a right to the body lands for Stiverne. Now Stiverne backs Arreola up to the ropes. Arreola lands some nice shots on the inside. Uppercut and a left hook lands for Stiverne. Quick jab being fired by Stiverne. HARD left hook followed by a right lands for Stiverne and Arreola is rocked right at the bell. Round to Stiverne.

Stiverne jabs to the body. 1-2 for Arreola gets in. Stiverne lands a sweeping right hook that BLASTS Arreola. Arreola is down. He's up and takes the count. Stiverne jumps on him and lands a big left hook and a right hand. Another barrage of shots land for Stiverne that nearly send Arreola through the ropes. Arreola barely makes it up. He looks out on his feet, but the ref lets it continue. Another 1-2 from Stiverne rocks Arreola and the ref jumps in to stop the punishment.
