According to multiple industry insiders, Bruce Binkow, Chief Operating Officer of Golden Boy Promotions, officially resigned from his position. The news comes just weeks after the company lost it's Chief Executive Officer, Richard Schaefer, who announced his departure earlier this month.
This marks the second top executive to leave the promotional company, which President Oscar De La Hoya established back in 2002. Both men were instrumental in making Golden Boy Promotions one of the top two promotional companies in boxing. We're told that Binkow walked out of the company yesterday, and apparently, he wasn't the only one to leave as sources tell us that Richard Schaefer's former secretary, Nicole Becerra, has also left.
UPDATE: In response to this latest development, representatives of Golden Boy Promotions released the following statement:
"Golden Boy Promotions is solely focused on one goal -- giving fans the fights they want to see. We are fully aware that some might have different aspirations, and we wish them well in their new endeavors. As for us, we will not relent until boxing's Cold War is over and all promoters leave their egos at the door in favor of putting fans first."
