Sources close to the situation have informed us that a deal has been reached to match three-division world champion Adrien Broner against jr. welterweight contender Emmanuel Taylor on September 6. The bout is tentatively scheduled to take place in Broner's hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, though there's talks of potentially moving it San Antonio. The card will reportedly feature several up-and-coming Cincinnati fighters, including bantamweight Rau'Shee Warren and lightweight Robert Easter.
Taylor is coming off of a career-defining victory, surviving a late knockdown to score a 10-round unanimous decision victory over Karim Mayfield recently on ESPN Friday Night Fights. Taylor will reportedly earn a career high payday. Former welterweight champion Andre Berto and hard-hitting jr. welterweight Lucas Matthysse are also expected to make their return to the ring on the same date, but it's unclear if either will be on Broner's card or fighting in a different venue.
