According to Main Events CEO Kathy Duva, a deal has been reached for a November 8 light heavyweight unification showdown between WBO champion Sergey Kovalev and WBA &IBF champion Bernard Hopkins. Provided that Kovalev defeats Blake Caparello this Saturday night, the bout will take place in either Atlantic City or Brooklyn, New York.
"Nothing is confirmed until Sergey wins tomorrow night, so I need to start with that. But I was contacted yesterday at around noon. I heard from Eric Gomez, and he said, 'Would you like to make this fight. We're willing, if you can agree to certain terms.' He told me what they were, and they seemed fine to me," Duva explained to Lem Satterfield of RingTV.com. "We started at noon yesterday, and I think that contracts were signed at about 3:30 of 4 p.m. today."
