The sweet science returns to what most consider to be the of mecca of boxing in Southern California. The StubHub Center in Carson, California will again host a Showtime Championship Boxing card that is sure to entertain fight fans all over, and "Trouble" will be in the building.
Dominic "Trouble" Breazeale (11-0, 10 KO's) returns to the ring this Saturday in an 8 round bout against veteran heavyweight Billy "The Kid" Zumbrun (27-13, 16 KO's). Breazeale, who is coming off a win against U.S. Olympian Devin Vargas has been showing that he is a heavyweight prospect thus far in his young career. The 2012 U.S. Olympian is pleased with his career so far but has his sights set on the ultimate prize, the heavyweight championship of the world.
When asked about his bout this weekend, Breazeale said; "I'm looking forward to fighting at the StubHub Center again. Training camp has been great with my trainer John Bray. This will be the second time I've fought at this venue in the last two months and my last bout with Vargas didn't end the way I wanted it to. Billy is a tough veteran and I respect anyone that steps in the ring, however, I'm fighting in of front of my hometown fans and I'm looking forward to making a statement."
His trainer John Bray added the following; "at this stage of Dominic's career, fighting a veteran of 40 fights in Billy Zumbrun is exactly what he needs. It is not whether Dominic is going to win or lose in my mind, it is in what manner does he win and what does he gain from it. It's about growth and preparation leading to the heavyweight championship of the world."
Breazeale who is advised by Al Haymon, is on the fast track to the world heavyweight title and currently the division is wide open. At the age of 28, Breazeale is relatively young in boxing standards, taking up the sport in 2008 and then qualifying for the U.S. Olympic boxing team in just three years. At 6'7", 250 pounds, Breazeale's body and toughness is made for professional fighting versus the amateur style and Breazeale has shown that, imposing his style and will on all of his opponents.
In closing, Breazeale said the following: "The StubHub Center is a great venue to fight in and I'm looking forward to fighting in front of my hometown fans and giving them a show. I'm sure there will be a sea of Trouble shirts and I appreciate all of their support. I want to thank my adviser Al Haymon, Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions for the opportunities that I have been given and I will make the most of them."
