FIGHTHYPE PROSPECT WATCH: TAMIR IBN AMAAR HERBERT:

"I'm more of a pro style fighter. I'm a defensive southpaw. Defense is the main thing and that's my style; defense first. I don't like getting hit, so I try not to get hit and deliver the hits. I'm a slick fighter. I like looking nice in the ringÂ… I'm the next big thing. Look out for me at 135 or 140 and anybody could get it. It don't matter who you is. I ain't scared to fight nobody," stated Tamir IBN Amaar Herbert, who talked about eventual pro debut. Check it out!

PC: How is everything going my man?

TIAH: Everything is going good. I'm just training hard and getting ready to make my pro debut in 2015, but I'm training hard and staying dedicated to the sport.

PC: Are you working the tournament scene or are you putting all of your efforts into your pro debut next year?

TIAH: Yeah, I'm just on the tournament scene. I ain't really do no shows or nothing.

PC: You are out of Philly and working out of Danny Garcia's DSG Gym. What is it like being over there seeing Danny do his thing and gaining motivation off of his success?

TIAH: It motivates me for sure. Seeing Danny in training camp and getting work with him is a great learning experience for me. He is a strong guy, so he teaches me a lot in sparring and then I go in the ring and do what I see him do. So he is a motivator for my whole career.

PC: What are your thoughts on the heat Danny received from the Rod Salka fight?

TIAH: Man, first of all, Rod Salka took the fight. He didn't have to take the fight. When you step in there with a big dawg, that's what happens. Danny went in there and did what he had to do. Some media and fans liked it and some didn't, but at the end of the day, they all talking about it.

PC: What do you feel you bring to the table, Tamir?

TIAH: I'm more of a pro style fighter. I'm a defensive southpaw. Defense is the main thing and that's my style; defense first. I don't like getting hit, so I try not to get hit and deliver the hits. I'm a slick fighter. I like looking nice in the ring.

PC: Who were some of your boxing influences coming up?

TIAH: Pernell Whitaker, James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, Camacho, Tito Trinidad, and Roy Jones was my favorite fighter back in the day.

PC: I'm sure you're getting a lot of good work out there in Philly.

TIAH: Yeah! I'm working with Anthony Flores. I sparred TJ Velasquez a lot. He's the next Olympian coming out of Philly, so be on the lookout for him, Marquise Nichole. There are a lot of good, young talent in Danny's gym.

PC: Who is currently training you and what weight class will you be competing at when you make your pro debut?

TIAH: My trainer right now is Coach Anthony. He's from New Jersey. He's one of the best pad men in the Tri-State right now. Angel wants me to go to 135, but 140 will be good for me too. I'm about 143 right now, so I could go either way.

PC: Give us the word on you?

TIAH: I'm Tamir IBN Amaar Herbert. I'm known as "Southpaw Killa". I'm 20 years old from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, training out of DSG Boxing Club, and I'm the next big thing. Look out for me at 135 or 140 and anybody could get it. It don't matter who you is. I ain't scared to fight nobody.

PC: Looking at both 135 and 140, how do you see the future of those divisions right now?

TIAH: I think 135 needs more excitement. I like Terence Crawford. I like him the most. I like Gamboa too. Gamboa is one of my favorite fighters. He took a tough loss, but he will be back. At 140, after Danny leave, I think AB [Adrien Broner] could pick it up if he get his power up. I think AB could make 140 pop after Danny leave, but right now, that division belongs to Danny.

PC: What fights are coming up that you are looking forward to?

TIAH: Bernard Hopkins and Kovalev. I think Bhop gonna take him down. Kovalev is...there is levels and everybody is not elite. You can knock everybody out and then fight somebody elite and look amateurish. Bhop might be close to 50, but he's got a young mind and a young body. You take care of your body, you could go as long as you want.

PC: Well man, keep us posted on everything you got going. We will be in touch. Anything you wanna add?

TIAH: Yeah, you already know. I just wanna shout out to FightHype and everyone can follow me on Twitter and Instagram @southpawkilla_
