RANCES BARTHELEMY DISCUSSES FERNANDO SAUCEDO CLASH:

"Fernando is a great problem and he has like 14 wins in a row and he doesn't have power and all that, but he can fight. You look at my career, I'm 20-0, so I have won 20 times in a row and I expect a great fight that night and I'm going to show everybody that he doesn't belong in there with me...I just have to establish my jab and show Saucedo from the 1st round that I'm the bigger man throughout the whole fight and if the knockout comes, it comes. But I'm gonna put in rounds and break him down because I don't think he can hurt me or anything like that," stated IBF super featherweight champion Rances Barthelemy, who talked about his upcoming October 4 clash with Fernando Saucedo. Check it out!

PC: How has this training camp been for your fight against Fernando Saucedo?

RB: Training has been great. It's one of my best camps so far.

PC: What did you take away from your two fights with Argenis Mendez?

RB: I feel like I didn't lose anything in either fight with Mendez. I showed the world that I could knock him out, and then in the second fight, I showed him that I could outbox him. I gained a lot from those fights because I showed people I could box and throw a lot of punches.

PC: During the course of those two fights, you got the label of being a dirty fighter. Does that bother you?

RB: Not at all because it's a lot different when you're in the ring as opposed to being on the outside. When you're fighting a guy that's shorter, sometimes low blows come, but they are not intentional and I was just trying to adjust to fighting the shorter man. I throw a lot or body shots and a lot of punches, and at the end of the day, it is a fight.

PC: Obviously Saucedo isn't the biggest puncher, but he has 50-plus wins, so he's doing something right. What are some of the things you feel he does well?

RB: Fernando is a great problem and he has like 14 wins in a row and he doesn't have power and all that, but he can fight. You look at my career, I'm 20-0, so I have won 20 times in a row and I expect a great fight that night and I'm going to show everybody that he doesn't belong in there with me.

PC: You have had a lot of TV exposure in your last few fights and you will be showcased again on Showtime on October 4th. What has that exposure been like?

RB: I enjoy every bit of TV time I get and the praise that comes with it. I like the fact that people know me as a fighter and I enjoy putting on a show for them.

PC: Your opponent has a significant amount of fights more than you and much more experience. How do you plan on combating his experience and walking away with a win?

RB: I respect every opponent and he is a vet and he does have more fights than me as a pro, but people have to realize that I have over 239 amateur fights and I have fought mostly everyone in the world. Cuban fighters don't look at it like that. We look at it as another work day. I just have to establish my jab and show Saucedo from the 1st round that I'm the bigger man throughout the whole fight and if the knockout comes, it comes. But I'm gonna put in rounds and break him down because I don't think he can hurt me or anything like that.

PC: You are a big guy for the division. Are you comfortable making the weight or will you look to move up soon?

RB: I'm lucky enough and fortunate enough where I can make 130 and I'll almost always be the bigger and stronger man at 130. But it all depends on how Al Haymon wanna move me because I'll be glad to move to 35. But like I said, I'm close to weight now and I'm eating well and training hard. I have no problem making 130.

PC: Like you said, you proved that you can punch and box in your two fights with Mendez. What do you want to show in this fight?

RB: I just want to show the fans and myself as a fighter that I can put on a great, explosive, action fight to close out the year because this will probably be my last fight of the year. Hopefully I take him out quick to show the world I'm a boxer-puncher and then it'll be time for me and my family to take a little vacation. I've been working hard this whole year, so I want to spend some time with my wife and daughter and just relax and start fresh next year.

PC: I wish you the best of luck; always look forward to watching you fight. Is there anything else you wanna say before I let you go?

RB: Thank you and I appreciate you for this interview. Shout out to all of the Latin American and all boxing fans and don't miss out on October 4th on Showtime, the main event. You can expect a great, strong Rances Barthelemy. I'm going to put on an explosive show!
