"Two years to three years ago, right before Pacquiao got knocked out, honestly I'm wondering what Pacquiao would do against a top-notch fighter like Floyd because that knockout he took against Marquez, that shit effects fighters right there. Mayweather is an A-level fighter, so how would Pacquiao approach that fight," stated world-class trainer Jack Loew, who shared his thoughts on a potential mega-fight between between undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather and 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao. As far as Loew is concerned, the older both fighters get, the less intriguing the fight becomes, so just like most fans, Loew is eager for both sides to put their difference aside and make the fight a reality.
"To beat Mayweather, you're gonna have to get in his ass and fight him. You are not gonna out-box him; nobody is. You're not gonna beat Floyd boxing. You're gonna have to fight him like Maidana did in their first fight. Just because Maidana did that and Maidana fought a nice fight, he didn't beat Floyd," Loew explained during a recent conversation with FightHype.com "He gave him a good fight, so right off the bat, people think Mayweather lost that night. He did not get beat. Somebody just finally got in there and gave him a fight, but he didn't get beat. The older they get, the less intriguing that fight gets. I don't want to see two over-the-hill guys. I don't wanna see an over-the-hill Pacquiao and an over-the-hill Mayweather fight each other. I want to see two guys at the top of their game both still beating the hell out of people."
Loew continued, "Listen man, everybody gotta kiss and make up and just make the great fights. Everybody gotta quit worrying about what I think is bullshit and just make the fights. Golden Boy and Top Rank can make some great fights, and even Floyd. He's got a nice little stable of fighters. These guys just gotta work together and I think we can see some great fights. And you can see that happening. There are some pretty good fights out there. And you know what? Al Haymon's not afraid to let his guys fight each other either. He's got some very good fighters and he will put them in there together. I think there are some really great fights coming up."
