"No one has spoken to me about this fight. I have no communication with Top Rank. They are lies," stated former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., who denied a claim from Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum that he's been offered a one-fight deal to face super middleweight champion Carl Froch in Las Vegas some time early next year. According to Chavez Jr., Arum is not only lying about an offer to face Carl Froch, but also about an offer to face fellow Mexican and undefeated super middleweight contender Gilberto Ramirez.
"Bob Arum has sued me because he says that I still have a contract with him, so I wonder, how can I get closer with him if he is suing me," Chavez Jr. elaborated during a recent interview with Miguel Angel Cebreros of notifight.com. "These are lies, lies, all lies. It is a strategy of them alone. No one has offered me anything." The one thing that Chavez Jr. did say is accurate is the fact that Billy Keane will no longer be working as his manager. Though he did clarify that Keane will still be helping him in some capacity, Chavez Jr. made it a point to explain that his former manager was someone that Arum did not want him working with at all. "With Billy Keane, the contract was simply completed, but we stayed on good terms. He remains close to me and helps me. Bob Arum does not want Billy Keane around because he helps me and Bob Arum does not want anyone to help me," Chavez Jr. added.
