DONOVAN CAMERON SPEAKS ON THE SPARRING SESSIONS WITH BOTH RAHMAN BROTHERS, THE LAWSUIT THEY FILED, AND MORE

"I had wind of it by word of mouth that they was going to do that, so I wasn't really surprised, but was just intrigued to see what they would be suing for...It all happened on the spot. How can you not be aware when you are looking into the lens of a camera with a microphone in your face...I recall being told that, yes. I thought everybody knew anyway that this was the case. During my session, I was told I was signed and making my debut next, so it was all good exposure for the fans to see a bit of what's to come from a real fighter," stated British amateur Donovan Cameron, who talked about the sparring session he had with both Rahman brothers at the Mayweather Boxing Club, the lawsuit they filed against Floyd Mayweather, and much more. Check it out!

SS: First, I want to touch on the contract situation. I know you are there in Vegas as part of the Mayweather Boxing Club. What is the situation regarding signing with Mayweather promotions?

DC: At this stage, I am awaiting a contract from Floyd Mayweather. His last words he said to me was that he has got my paperwork, don't worry, but I have not heard any update since I have returned to the states.

SS: Is there anything lined up for your next fight?

DC: Nothing on paper at the moment, but I was told to stay working, so I'm okay for the next date, which is December 12.

SS: You mention stay working. Just how is the work in Vegas at the Mayweather Boxing Club? Who in particular has helped you the most?

DC: I'm always staying ready. The best work has come from Andrew Tabiti, and recently I've been working with Floyd Sr., which keeps you very sharp as a fighter with his unique mitt work.

SS: Yeah, when I was at the gym, Andrew was doing like a 60-minute mitt session with Floyd Sr. at a ferocious pace and power, but I mean, being in the gym and around Floyd Mayweather, the best in the sport now and one of the greatest of all time, we all know his work rate in the gym is phenomenal, but what in particular have you learned from being around him?

DC: For sure he is a very top athlete. We all know it's no secret that Floyd works hard. The main thing I have learned is to keep your eye on your goals and focus yourself as an individual. For me, that's the only way you can be the best. As a skill set, I have soaked up everything that has passed my eyes.

SS: It is well documented that you are at the center of a storm at the moment regarding sparring the Rahman brothers; the infamous 31-minute sparring session. What was your reaction when you first heard the news about the court case?

DC: To be honest, I had wind of it by word of mouth that they was going to do that, so I wasn't really surprised, but was just intrigued to see what they would be suing for?

SS: So they were suggesting at the gym that this is what they were going to do?

DC: There was one time in the changing room where all the fighters were talking about they heard that this was what they were going to do.

SS: How long after this incident was it before the two brothers stopped going the gym?

DC: I haven't seen them since Floyd had his fight

SS: I want to get your thoughts on a couple of the comments made in the complaint. First, regarding the comments that they were not told that this was going to be on All Access. When I spoke with you previously, you said that you were made aware it was going on All Access. Is that right?

DC: It all happened on the spot. How can you not be aware when you are looking into the lens of a camera with a microphone in your face?

SS: True. I'm sure in a previous conversation, you mentioned that one of the guys said out loud that "you're gong to be on All Access"?

DC: Yeah, I recall being told that, yes. I thought everybody knew anyway that this was the case. During my session, I was told I was signed and making my debut next, so it was all good exposure for the fans to see a bit of what's to come from a real fighter.

SS: I remember watching that tape and I'm sure it was Sharif that challenged you to the fight.

DC: Yeah, it was shown on All Access how it was.

SS: There was an allegation made about Sharif not being allowed to leave the ring. Is there any truth in that?

DC: All I recall at that time is boxing and to try and put on a show without seriously hurting him, but just to let him know.

SS: On the show, it shows the mother hyping up the fight, calling for Hasim to get revenge with you it appears.

DC: Yeah, I seen her on the show making a few comments, but at the time, I was just concentrating on my boxing.

SS: When the session was stopped, was that due to an injury to your hand?

DC: Not just that; it was due to Hasim saying he quit also. I didn't want to get political. Everyone seen what I was about, so that was enough for me. The truth was told at the end of the session, so I was fine. But As Floyd said, they are able to edit it.

SS: So when it was made apparent that the fight couldn't carry on, the coaches and Floyd respected the fighters and ended the session?

DC: Yeah, I was asked to work. I could continue, but I chose to call it a day as he told me he couldn't continue. Somebody caught those comments on camera phone. I remember the big bro hugging me saying, "I'm done." I said, "You quit?" And he said, "Yeah."

SS: Initially it was supposed to be you and Ishe in there. Have you stepped in there wit him yet?

DC: It was. I don't think he wanted to spar as I waited for him the first day and left to go get my blood work done. Next day, I came to the gym and approached him and he tried to make a scene. That's when Floyd arrived. My goal was to see Floyd; nothing else mattered.

SS: Well, you have done better than just seeing Floyd. If all goes well, looks like you could end up with a good deal out if it and you have already appeared on All Access with some great exposure. Is there anything you want to say to the fans before we finish? Let them know what Donovan Cameron is about!

DC: For the fans, I am here to give the fans what they want; a true champion and contender that will fight every and anyone. Everyone can follow me on Instagram and Twitter @THEREALDONONE
