"I plan on moving up in weight after this. I fought at 140 before; a few times. I felt comfortable at the weight. I'm just kind of growing out of this weight. You know, I've been at this weight since I was 17. I'm 27 right now. That's 10 years, so I think it's about time I move up. So yeah, most definitely I'ma check it out," stated WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford, who made it clear that he'll be paying close attention to Saturday's showdown between undefeated jr. welterweight champion Chris Algieri and WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. According to Crawford, after his upcoming November 29 title defense against Ray Beltran, he fully intends to move up to the jr. welterweight division, where he hopes to eventually land a mega-fight with a big name like Pacquiao, who recently expressed his own intention to move back down to the 140-pound weight class.
Although Chris Algieri could spoil Crawford's opportunity to eventually step into the ring with the Filipino legend, the Oklahoma native believes Pacquiao will come out victorious this weekend despite it being a tough matchup. "I think that's a real tough fight for Pacquiao being that Chris Algieri likes to move and, you know, throw his jab, hook off the jab, and he can box a little bit and he's tall, but I think Manny is going to pull it out with his skills and that experience that he got in the ring and he's gonna get the job done," Crawford during a recent conversation with FightHype.com. "If I was to fight him [Pacquiao], who knows? Everybody can say what they're gonna do, you know, but when they get in there, it might be something totally different. But I couldn't say because I'm not in that position right now."
