ANNOYED CANELO ALVAREZ DEMANDS MIGUEL COTTO TO MAKE A DECISION:

It appears Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La Hoya isn't the only one getting antsy as they await a decision from WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. Former jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez recently sent a personal letter to select members of the media to voice his frustrations that a May 2 showdown with the four-division world champion has yet to be finalized. In the prepared statement, Canelo demanded that Cotto stop wasting time by making a decision on whether or not he would accept the terms of the fight, most of which Canelo says Cotto was asking for and he agreed to.

However, Cotto's advisor, Gaby Penagaricano, insists that the fight is still far from being finalized, suggesting that it's only 50% done because "the most important elements of the deal – the financial element" has not been agreed to. Regardless, Canelo is publicly putting pressure on Cotto to make a decision, claiming that he would be remembered as a ducker if he does not agree to terms. Check out what else Canelo had to say in his full statement.

CANELO ALVAREZ:

"I don't understand what is happening. I already granted Miguel Cotto a lot of what they were asking to make this fight happen. It's been more than a month and he has not decided to sign the contract."

"I am young and obviously don't remember many fights of the past, but I understand that no Puerto Rican has ever ducked a Mexican, or a Mexican a Puerto Rican. This is a classic fight and what the fans want to see."

"I already talked to my promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, and he confirmed to me that I will fight on May 2, 2015 and Miguel Cotto is the opponent that tops the list. Thank God I have several options, but I believe and I think the fans of the world, especially in Puerto Rico, want me to face someone as big as he [Cotto]."

"Cotto has to decide already, but do not waste any more time. If not, he will go down in history as one who ducked a fighter who defeated his own brother because you are sure he can beat you too. I leave the task to him because I already did mine. I hope his decision does not hurt the sport of boxing in his country and the fans who demand this fight."
