Sources close to the information have informed us that a press conference will be held this week to officially announce that Spike TV is adding boxing to their programming lineup. We're told that influential advisor Al Haymon has reached a deal with the network to televise several bouts featuring a number of his fighters. In fact, according to one source, the first event will take place on March 13 and will feature former welterweight champion Andre Berto taking on Josesito Lopez, and former welterweight champion Shawn Porter facing Roberto Garcia. All four fighters are signed with Haymon.
The news comes just one week after executives from NBC held a press conference to announce their joint venture with Haymon Boxing to bring boxing back to network television with their new Premier Boxing Champions series.
