According to a recent report by the Associated Press, promoter Bob Arum claims that there are still two outstanding issues that remain before a mega-fight between undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather and 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao can be finalized. "We had four issues, and we resolved two. Now we're working on resolving the other two. Unless something else comes up at the last minute, that's what my take is," Arum explained.
What he didn't explain, however, is exactly what those two remaining issues actually are. As far as Arum is concerned, revealing those two issues might sabotage the negotiations at this point. "There's a lot of devil in the details, and that's what we're sorting through now," Arum continued. "The remaining issues are obviously important to the participants, and are things we have to work out." Contrary to Arum's claim, however, FightHype.com has been advised that there are no issues left to be resolved as far as the terms of the fight are concerned.
It should be noted that over the past three days, Arum has conducted interviews with multiple media outlets, including ESPN, Yahoo! Sports, Ring Magazine, and several other smaller websites, but not one person has been able to get Arum to reveal the issues he claims still exist. It begs the question do these issues actually exist, or is Arum simply refusing to give up control after Pacquiao and Koncz acknowledged that they are indeed the B-Side? Time will tell! Let's hope that both sides are still coming together and no one is working behind the scenes trying to sabotage the fight of the century.
