"Look, I think everybody knows Amir Khan wants to fight Floyd Mayweather. I mean, that's what we want next," stated former world champion Amir Khan, who wasted no time in letting it be known that he wants his shot at undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather. Fresh off of a unanimous decision victory over former world champion Chris Algieri, Khan, who is the number one ranked challenger to Mayweather's WBC welterweight title, believes he's earned the right to face the best boxer in the world.
"I'm the number one WBC. Mayweather is the champion, so let's make it happen," Khan explained during his post-fight interview. Although Mayweather has yet to make a formal announcement himself about his future plans, many expect him to return to the ring on September 12 for the final fight of his Showtime contract. It's a fight that Mayweather says could very well be his last and Khan his hoping to be the lucky man to get the assignment. Should he get it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
