Moments ago at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto made a sensational first defense of his title, scoring a 4th round stoppage of challenger Daniel Geale. Cotto looked devastating in the performance, chopping Geale down with solid body shots before landing a perfect left hook to the jaw that sent Geale to the canvas for the first time of the fight. After a follow-up barrage dropped him a second time, Geale said he had enough, prompting the referee to stop the fight at 1:28 of the 4th round. Cotto lands a solid left hook to the body. Another left, this one upstairs, lands for Cotto. Cotto digs another left hook to the body. Geale fires to the body. Quick left upstairs lands for Cotto and he dances away. Geale already looks confused. Another left hook lands for Cotto. They trade lefts. Cotto lands another left hook inside. Cotto fires a right to the body. Geale gets in a right, but he's staggered by a left hook from Cotto. Cotto doubles up with the left hook, upstairs and downstairs. Nice combination to the body lands for Cotto. Geale just not getting off. Jab from Cotto snaps back the head of Geale. 1-2 to the body lands for Cotto. Jab lands for Geale. They trade in the center of the ring. Looping right from Geale lands on the shoulder of Cotto. Nice left to the body lands for Cotto. Round to Cotto.

Cotto pops a right off the head of Geale. They trade some shots. HARD left hook lands for Cotto and Geal is down. Wow. He's up at nine, but he looks wobbly. Cotto jumps on him and rocks him again. Anothe rleft hook lands for Cotto. Body shots landing for Cotto. Cotto unloads on him against the ropes. Geale goes down. He's up and tells the referee that he wants no more. That's it. It's over.
